High value recycling: a challenge we need to start coping with
Given the challenges posed by climate change and the need to save our resources, we will partner with UNIDO and other value chain stakeholders in a pilot focussing on High value recycling. High value recycling is the concept of recycling textile waste and used garments into new garment products. This concept can reduce some of the pressure on virgin resources, while at the same add value to waste to make recycling profitable for companies.
ReJeaneration is the name we have chosen with our partners for the project which will aim at testing the recycle of denim scraps into new cotton yarns. The project has activated a multi-stakeholder partnership to share knowledge, expertise and technology to advance experiences in high value recycling, moving towards new directions where sustainability, circularity and competitiveness are directly linked to building partnerships and synergies along the whole value chain.
