We are very proud of our Rediscovery Upcycling project, in partnership with Reclaim to Wear, IUAV University of Venice and the Fashion Design Center in Cairo, supported by the Fondazione San Zeno of Verona and the Alexbank of Intesa San Paolo Group. The project, in the framework of the Cottonforlife Initiative (the first vertical, transparent, seed to clothing organic cotton supply chain in Egypt) supports sustainable fashion through the creative use of textile leftovers and aims at training young fashion designers on sustainable design techniques. Thanks to the academic experience and guidance of IUAV University of Venice and Orsola De Castro, emerging and established designers trained in Venice 11 fashion students from Italy and Egypt on up-cycling design techniques. The students designed and developed capsule collections by using pre and post-consumer textile leftovers. Along with the training, the initiative offers to the participants also the opportunity of launching their own sustainable entrepreneurial project supported by a financial award by ALEXBANK to the most distinguished and talented participants for the activation of their own start up and to inspire a new generation of fashion designers. The final outfits have been presented in Cairo to an audience that included local ministers, educators, representatives of UNIDO and the press. The Rediscovery Team has been invited to several TV programs to present the initiative!!
